Greengage Plum

Some call this the Holy Grail of stone fruit.  The greengage is a small European variety that was once commercially popular but has since been nearly totally overwhelmed by the larger, sturdier Asian plums varieties in recent times. They are notoriously delecate when ripe, but it is SO worth it. Lusciously sweet, deeply flavorful, with a distinct back palate of honey.
